BatteryTender Plus is the most advanced charger/maintainer on the market specially designed for today's sealed lead acid batteries. The BT Plus uses micro-processor technology in a four stage charging profile to charge, improve, and float your battery so it is ready when your are. The Battery Tender Plus 12-volt/1.25-amp Battery Charger is the convenient solution to the challenge of keeping 12-volt vehicle batteries optimally powered when not in use. Safe, 4-step Battery Charging
The Battery Tender Plus 12-volt/1.25-amp Battery Charger is much more than a trickle charger. Powered by BTP microprocessor technology, it has a "brain". Utilizing a 4-step charging program (initialization, bulk charge, absorption mode and float mode), it allows you to simply connect the charger to a battery, either in or out of a vehicle, and forget about it until you are ready to put the battery to work. Like all Battery Tender chargers, at the end of the regular charger cycle the it automatically switches its output voltage to a safe, storage or float level that eliminates the need to worry about the damaging effects of overcharging, and the resulting need to check on the condition of the battery. If or when the battery voltage drops too far under load, output power resumes and the charging cycle begins again. The unit also features sparkproof connectors, short circuit and reverse polarity protection, an easy to understand charging status LED indicator, a quick connect harness for use in hard to reach areas and almost no current draw from batteries connected to.

*Note: All Deltran battery chargers will charge all types of lead acid batteries: either flooded (standard STD), sealed maintenance free Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM), or sealed maintenance free gelled electrolyte (GEL) batteries. However, for optimum battery performance in deep cycle applications (for example, running a trolling motor), it is best to chose the Deltran charger that has the charging software specifically designed for the battery type. Fortunately, since the technical staff at Deltran has developed charging software that works equally well for both STD & AGM batteries, the only choice to be made is between 2 models: either STD & AGM or GEL software.

10-Year Limited Warranty
Deltran provides a limited 10-year warranty on its Battery Tender Plus 12-volt/1.25-amp Battery Charger to the original purchaser based on defective material or workmanship. Warranty is void in cases of product misuse, disassembly or modification. « don't leave your battery sit without one »

I own two of these units, one dual bank charger and one Deltran 5 amp waterproof charger. If you need your boat, motorcycle or power equipment to start after storage then this is the maintainer. Works great and keeps batteries at 100%. I rotate mine from battery to battery so I have gotten extra battery hookups. Makes life easy.

« Just Bought My Second One »

I bought my first Battery Tender for a BMW M3 that I drive infrequently because of travel. The car uses a lot of power even when turned off and idle. After having to replace a dead battery my dealer suggested that I purchase a charger to keep my battery in good shape. I believe BMW sells this unit under their logo, but I bought it from Amazon for much less $$$.

Problem solved! Even after a one month long business trip my car started immediately. Seeing that green light on the Battery Tender gives me peace of mind that my car will start when I need it and my battery will stay in good shape.

When my wife's Honda S2000 would not start after sitting in the garage for a few months, I thought I would try my Battery Tender before calling AAA. After an overnight charge the car started right up. After an additional 24 hours the green light was constant telling me the battery charger was in maintenance mode. My wife asked me to buy one for her.

One Note: find out if your car can charge via the cigarette lighter. This seems to be the most convenient method. BMW 3 series prior to 2007 can charge this way but newer models cannot. The Honda 2004 S2000 cannot charge via the auxilliary socket between the seats, so I installed the terminal set directly to the battery.

This device works, is solidly built, and is a good investment.

Easy to use, easy to set up. The little green light indicates it's happy, too.
There's no way to know, of course, whether it made a difference since the alternative was to disconnect my '96 BMW M3's battery.
Don't bother with the cover. As noted elsewhere, the package it comes in is suitable for storage.

All I can say is that it works great and I love the adapter that allows you to charge your battery without opening the hood each time. I use this on my 67 Caddy which I don't get to drive at all 6 months out of the year.
